After Bernstein's performance at the White House in 1960, President Eisenhower remarked, "You know, I liked that last piece you played: it's got a theme. I like music with a theme, not all them arias and barcarolles." Inspired by the President’s response, Leonard Bernstein would go on to be create his Arias and Barcarolles, a charming and entertaining work for soprano, baritone and piano four hands. Join pianists James Tocco and Robert Conway alongside soprano Lauren Skuce Gross and baritone Daniel Gross for a performance of this playful piece. Other featured pieces include Fauré’s Piano Quartet in C minor and a piece by Festival Composer-in-Residence, Shen Yiwen.
